How to Register for UAN on the UMANG App

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has implemented a new rule for employees generating their Universal Account Number (UAN) from August 1, 2025. Step-by-Step Process to Register for UAN on the UMANG App

➔ Prerequisites

Before registering, ensure that you have the following handy:

• A valid Aadhaar Card Number
• Mobile number linked to Aadhaar Card
• The Aadhaar Face RD App is installed on their phone.

➔ The Process

1. Install & Log into the UMANG app.
2. Navigate to the ‘UAN Allotment and Activation’ page within the EPFO Services.
3. Enter your Aadhaar Number and mobile number and tap on the checkbox to consent for Aadhaar validation.
4. Tap on the ‘Send OTP’ button.
5. Enter the received OTP.
6. The system will check whether your Aadhaar card is linked to a UAN, and if it is linked, you will be notified of the same.
7. If they are not linked, you will be prompted to scan your face.
8. Select the ‘Face Authentication’ button, and keep your face within the circle shown on the screen.
9. Once your face is scanned successfully, the system will fetch all required details and generate the UAN for you.
10. You will receive your new UAN via SMS on your registered mobile number.
