Cognitive Ability Testing

What is Cognitive Ability Testing?

‘Cognitive Ability Testing’ is a test developed to gauge the cognitive abilities of an individual. It is used for technical positions generally and is used in fields such as investigation, mathematics, etc.

Generally, these tests are conducted when hiring a new employee and hence, it is also used as a measure to gauge a prospective candidate’s aptitude and logical reasoning. The cognitive tests might also include tests to measure one’s mental awareness and reasoning.

Recently, conducting cognitive tests for interviews has come under criticism as they fail to address cultural and racial bias. Similarly, some of these tests might be inconclusive because of the nature of the test performed. Hence, there is a move towards standardizing the tests to make them uniform for all kinds of fields where these tests are conducted.
