Software as a Service (SaaS)

What is Software as a Service (SaaS)?

‘Software as a Service’, abbreviated as ‘SaaS’ is a software delivery model in which the software itself is provided for usage via a cloud-based central server, and the end user pays for the services using a subscription model.

The software is usually accessed via any web browser using the required credentials. Hence, it is easy for the user to access it as they simply require a web browser and internet connectivity. The nuances of the software and its working are completely abstracted from the end user.

As there is no requirement on the part of the company using the services to buy any sort of hardware or maintain them, it lowers the cost incurred by them drastically. Hence, companies are opting for cloud-based SaaS software. With the increased accessibility of the internet even in remote locations, SaaS has become the preferred model for all kinds of businesses.
