What is Brown Bag Lunch ?

  
A ‘Brown Bag Lunch’ is the name given to the informal training provided by a company which is usually accompanied with having food. These kinds of sessions mostly include topics that are more informal in nature.
 
They are used mostly for promoting team bonding and showcasing the company culture rather than formal training. As such, employees who attend the same feel more engaged with the company, while also getting an opportunity to wind down with colleagues.
 
The term was coined since employees used to carry lunches in brown bags before the advent of company cafeterias. Modern companies even provide buffets as an incentive for attending brown bag lunches.
