Unemployment Benefits

What are Unemployment Benefits?

‘Unemployment Benefits’ refers to the benefits provided by the government or any other authority to unemployed individuals to help them financially as they do not have any source of income.

Different countries have different unemployment benefits policies with some offering basic support for food and shelter, while others taking care of medical expenses too while others also actively support finding a job for the individual.

While it is considered to be a responsibility of the government in most countries, the responsibility might also be undertaken by the trade unions of some countries, such as the Ghent system of Belgium.
