Annual Leave

What is Annual Leave ?

‘Annual Leaves’ refer to the paid time-offs provided by companies to their employees in a year. It may or may not include the public holidays of the country.

The number of annual leaves allotted to the employee is informed via the offer letter while the employee joins the company.

Although companies are free to set a higher limit of leaves for their employees, the lower limit is set by government regulations so that the employee rights are protected. For example, in Europe, the minimum amount of annual leaves should not be less than 20 excluding the public holidays.

Similarly, many companies state that the employees need to apply for leaves and get required permission before they can use the paid time-offs for any kind of personal reasons.
