Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

‘Search Engine Optimisation’ refers to the intentional efforts put into optimizing the webpages of a website to ensure that they rank at the highest possible position on a SERP or Search Engine Results Page organically.

Ranking higher ensures that the website is visible for anyone searching for the related terms in the search engine which are prospective customers for the website owners. Hence, companies put a lot of time and effort into SEO.

Another aspect of SEO is that it needs to be conducted separately for different search engines. The different major search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. use different kinds of algorithms to select the results. Hence, the companies wishing to rank higher should understand those algorithms and tweak their websites to satisfy the requirements of the algorithms to rank higher.
