What is Job Accommodation Network (JAN)?

 

‘Job Accommodation Network’ or ‘JAN’ refers to the US Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy initiative that is designed to help disabled employees with their employment. JAN also supports employers who recruit and retain disabled workers.

 

JAN is tasked with multiple responsibilities including informing the disabled candidates about relevant open positions, statutory guidance, resolving issues specific to disable employees, modifying the office considering the disabled employees, etc. It also helps entrepreneurs who are disabled by providing them with financial help as well as advice on starting a new business.

 

JAN provides its services via calls, chat or email and the service is totally free of cost. They provide their services in either English or Spanish and it is done in a confidential manner in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
