Sex Discrimination

What is Sex Discrimination?

‘Sexual Harassment’ refers to the harassment of an individual which is defined by unwarranted sexual attention towards them in the workplace. Sexual harassment ranges from minor teasing and verbal abusine to physical sexual assalt and other violent actions against an individual.

There are several legal laws in place to avoid occurrences of sexual harassment in the workplace. These laws are also accompanied by strict punishments to dissuade anyone from committing any kind of incident. Similarly, most of the companies also have their own rules and regulations against sexual harassment. The punishments would range from firing the employee to handing them to the police based on the severity of the crime committed.

Another important aspect to consider is that, contrary to popular belief, even males encounter incidences of sexual harassment. Hence, these laws cover all kinds of genders to make sure that every individual is protected.
