Casual Employment

What is Casual Employment?

‘Casual Employment’ refers to the kind of employment in which an employee is provided work when it is needed. There is no commitment of any kind from either of the two parties involved.

Companies generally opt for casual employment as a temporary replacement for another full-time employee who has left for a long vacation or leave. They may also choose casual employment to employ extra workers in case of higher workloads.

The companies also benefit from the fact that casual employees need not be provided with any kind of extra compensation and benefits like full-time employees. Similarly, there is no compulsion of paying for holidays and leaves in case of casual employment.
