Developmental Counselling

What is Developmental Counselling?

‘Developmental Counselling’ is counselling aimed at helping employees perform better in their respective official positions. It can take place in a variety of forms and can be used for various purposes.

In most cases, an external agency is contracted for the same and they study the cases individually and then have a one-on-one session with the individual employee. In this kind of counselling, the employee finds more freedom as he or she would be sharing their issues with a third party under confidentiality.

On the other hand, some companies give the authority to the manager to conduct developmental counselling. The concept behind this is that the managers are already known to the employee and hence he or she might be inclined to share their problems with them and together they can work on resolving the same.
