Social Media Background Screening

What is Social Media Background Screening?

‘Social Media Background Screening’ refers to the screening of candidates for a vacant job position based on their social media profiles as well as the past activities they have done on those platforms.

Social media background screening helps the company understand the applicant’s background and know whether they are a good fit for the company as they might not reveal everything in an interview or via their resume.

Companies generally create a profile of the candidate based on their social media profile and decide whether they can be recruited based on these observations. There have been instances where companies have been able to uncover unlawful activities, racist or sexist comments, sexually explicit material, etc. by undertaking social media background screening.
