Managed Service Provider

What is Managed Service Provider ?

‘Managed Service Provider’ refers to the third party that manages a company’s IT infrastructure including the computers, servers, etc. The third party who manages these hardware and software would be paid on a subscription basis.

The origin of managed service providers is in the 1900s when they started delivering remote application hosting services. With the advent of newer technology and the penetration of the internet, they eventually evolved into the MSPs.

MSPs would specialize in specific sectors related to the IT infrastructure such as data storage, antivirus, application deployment, etc. or they might focus on specific verticals such as legal service, financial industry or medical records maintenance.
