Forced Ranking

What is Forced Ranking?

 

‘Forced Ranking’ is the form of ranking in which the employees are ranked against each other instead of, against a fixed standardized ranking template.

 

Using this system, the employees are categorized into three groups:

  • Group A: They are the best employees to have as they are engaged, loyal, enthusiastic, committed and innovative.
  • Group B: They are not the most ideal group. However, they still display some of the characteristics of Group A. They are critical to the daily working of the organization and hence, they also cover a higher percentage of employees.
  • Group C: They are the worst group as it includes people who are lethargic and procrastinators. They are usually non-productive and their percentage will be the lowest in an organisation.
