Career Break

What is Career Break?

A ‘Career Break’ is a break from one’s career for either professional or personal reasons. It has to be agreed by both the employer and the employee in case the employee wishes to remain employed during the period.

Employees would be interested in a career break for a variety of reasons. It might be professional, for example, learning a new professional skill or studying further in their chosen field, or even changing their career path. It may also be personal, for example, to spend time with one’s family or have a vacation with them.

It is upon the company to provide any form of compensation during the break period as the duration can vary between a month to two years. Its popularity has increased over the years with more and more companies providing a better work-life balance.
