AI and HR: Is it for Real or just a Hoax?
Simply hit the Internet for business domain and within a few minutes, you are sure to find yourself submerged in a pool of articles and blogs talking about how AI (Artificial Intelligence) is set to reshape the business world. Yes, AI has been grabbing a lot of attention these days. In fact, a lot of HR centric write-ups and blogs talk about Artificial Intelligence and people management.
What exactly is AI?
AI that we all know is a technology capable to perform a plethora of intellectual tasks that humans can perform. Though the optimal application of this technology is light years away, there have been some extraordinary advancements in recent AI research and developments. These consist of problem solving ability, learning, social intelligence, creativity, language processing, to name a few. Not to forget, data-driven analytics and big data tools are making these claims more factual and doable.
AI’s Potential in HR:
Considering the fact that how far these solutions have traversed, AI’s potential in HR sounds exciting, to say the least. For example, a few years from now, we might have an advanced HR AI tool that can make spot-on predictions about an employee’s performance the way automated performance appraisal software does. Rather than digging out the problem employee months later, HR can get hold of the sloppier employee right at the initial stage, perhaps before it goes out of hands.
Further, Artificial Intelligence tools would probably help to simply the nerve-wracking task of recruiters and talent acquisition experts when it comes to making hiring decisions rather than relying on gut feeling. These solutions would track specific patterns, identify situations and events before providing the HR managers and recruiting experts with any actionable data.
Closing the Curtains:
To conclude, we can say that AI in HR is certainly not a hoax. It is undoubtedly becoming one of the hottest HR tech trends. And, as we are in the initial days of this technology, most of it is theoretical, but a future where HR would aggressively venture into the world of AI is not far away.
